What are the differences between Gluten Intolerance and Coeliac disease?

Vegan Brownie Slab

I am catering for an ever increasing number of clients with allergies and dietary needs.
I want to highlight the differences between Gluten Intolerance and Coeliac disease.

What is a Gluten Intolerance?

Gluten intolerance is a sensitivity to products containing gluten (wheat, barley and rye), which does require a careful diet, but they may still be able to tolerate some gluten based products.

What is Coeliac Disease?

Coeliac disease is an auto immune disease, when products containing gluten are eaten, this causes the immune system to go into overdrive, attacking healthy body tissues and causes damage to the gut. This in turn can cause all sorts of side effects and other health issues.

Did you know that Coeliac disease is considered a genetic condition, you are at much higher risk if a parent or sibling has it. Interestingly there are 2-3 times more women to men diagnosed with coeliac.

It’s unbelievable that less than a quarter of people with coeliac have been clinically diagnosed and the average length of time to diagnose is 13 YEARS!! This is truly shocking, so many are misdiagnosed with IBS.

I like to ensure that everyone is catered for at my events and has the same dining experience. The picture today is of a savoury platter for 2 people, suitable for coeliacs and those following a gluten free diet.

Operation River Festival 2022

We had the fabulous opportunity to offer Lunch Packs for all officers patrolling the Bedford River Festival on both Saturday and Sunday.

The operations team for The Police were utterly amazing in keeping us informed and arranging

everything. Their dedication in organising this was so impressive and ensuring that everyone was fed

and watered. Well done!

Preferred Shopping List for each pack:

  • Large roll (mixture of brown and white bread)

  • Meat fillings (Ham, Corned Beef, Coronation Chicken, with salad too)

  • Vegetarian fillings (Egg and Cress, Tuna, Sweetcorn and Mayo, Cheese salad)

  • Sausage roll (or vege roll, extras for gluten free or vegan too)

  • Bottle of Water

  • Crisps

  • Bar of Chocolate (suitable for vegan and gluten free too),

  • Piece of fruit (apple or banana)

  • Packet of Haribo

Due to the expected turnout, numbers were increased a few days before, with a further last minute

increase over the weekend which resulted in us making and delivering 250 lunch packs on Saturday and making and delivering 240 lunch packs on Sunday.

Shopping during the heatwave is certainly very interesting, especially for water, not to forget the 490 chocolate bars and stopping them from melting! I had to be resourceful to collect enough, special thanks to Teresa at John Bunyan boat for jumping in her car and helping at Bookers.

A special thank you to my team, family and friends, suppliers, who worked so hard in the build up

and all weekend. without all their hard work we could not have delivered this important service for

The River Festival.

A Special Thankyou to Your Clients?

Here at Creme Brew Lait, we know firsthand just how important it is to add a personal touch to your service so that your clients feel valued and leave a lasting impression.

We want to help you go the extra mile for your clients, which is why our personalised cookies are the perfect, unexpected treat for your client!

The Covid-19 pandemic transformed the lives of so many positively and negatively but it has also completely transformed the way that people view small businesses. People rallied around to help support small business owners in their time of need and really learnt the difference between ordering from a retail giant in comparison to a family run company.

So, why include our personal touch cookies?

  1. We know just how many people aren’t a fan of clutter or receiving gifts that they don’t find useful. Our cookies are high quality and tasty meaning that your services will definitely be remembered! Alongside this, cookies limit the amount of rubbish that ends up in a landfill too - easy and environmentally friendly! Win-win.

  2. Re-establish client contact. Our lives are so busy, and sometimes it can be difficult to keep up regular conversations to ensure people remember your brand. Personal gifts for a business client can remind them that they are valued and not forgotten.

  3. It is really important to make your clients feel valued and special. We all know that when a client is valued and appreciated, they will stay loyal. Going the extra mile can really help to keep your client loyal and will also help with word of mouth!

Think back to a time where a business went the extra mile unexpectedly.

Did your Estate Agents create you a beautiful congratulations hamper?

Did your solicitor send you a custom keychain?

Our cookies can be sent alone, or you could include it as part of a hamper.
